Happy 80th Birthday to Doris!

Doris writes:
This is what Jean Sony (one of the teenagers) wrote on lined paper, with drawn decorations around it, and left it on our table. I cried!

Several teams visited EGO in February! Thank you everyone, who worked so hard to support the children and Peavey's in many ways!

Team members did more construction on the school addition, repaired vehicles, fixed a water well, played with children, painted cribs and rooms, added a bathroom to one of the houses, and much more!

Pictures below... the reason why all the hard work on the school is worth it!

Jan. 2012 Newsletter

Greetings. We pray you're having a blessed New Year! The old year has passed and a new one has now begun . We are looking forward to great things in Jesus. We have had many difficulties and problems but, Praise God, this is His work and not ours. He has a plan and we will follow.

A week ago, while we were waiting for a Pastor friend to arrive to speak in the Tabernacle, I heard a car at the gate and said, "They have arrived!" While Joceline was putting the final touches on the meal she had prepared for them, someone went down to meet the guests. They quickly returned, saying it wasn’t the guests, but was representatives from Social Services (IBERS) and UNICEF. We hurried down to greet them. One had been here before, the other one was an attorney.

Not knowing what exactly was going to happen, we walked them to the baby dorm. It was already dark but the dorm was full of activity. They had bathed the little ones and those that had PJ s had them on--the others wore whatever they had - waiting for their devotions. We asked everyone to find their beds. (Other times when visiting, they always wanted to know if everyone had a bed.) A couple of weeks prior I felt the tug of the Holy Spirit telling me to take all of the beds for the children 1-3 yrs.old and put them on the right side of the baby dorm, and the other side housed 4-6 yr olds. It had worked out well. The dorm was well arranged.

After seeing everything, he didn’t wait but said while walking outside, "There is no problem here!"
We passed the kitchen and dining area explaining about things on the way. When we arrived at the girls dorm, they were getting dressed for the service so we waited outside for a while. It was at that time he said, “We have 10 children for you and everyone ages 18 and over need to leave to make space for the new ones.”

I asked him, "What do you do if they do not have any family?"

"Oh," he said, "Everyone has aunts and uncles or someone!!!" (not true)

On our way to the boys dorm we passed the fish tanks. They gave us so many compliments, asking what kind of fish etc. When we arrived at the boys dorm, those there were also getting ready for service. He asked where everyone was and one of the boys answered that the majority of them had already gone to attend the service.
They told us they had just come from St Michel where the director of an orphanage had left without any notice leaving the children alone. While walking back I pointed towards the baby dorm. "Could that be a crèche?" I asked. (Before they had told us that we needed a creche - another nursery in addition to what we have.) Wiithout hesitating, he answered, "Yes." PTL!

The government visitors will return to sit down and talk with us. They will only give us 10 children, but that’s quite a few more mouths to feed, clothe etc. We serve a GREAT GOD and He is MORE THAN ABLE!
We hear teams are coming that want to paint. We need a new face lift. The beds need painting and new beds, mattresses and sheets will be needed.

When we had Christmas with the children, all the little ones came up and received their gifts--stuffed animals, which they loved, jump ropes, coloring books, crayons, cars and much more. Thank you for your part in making these children so happy.

For the older kids, it was our version of "spin the bottle" as they tried to see who would be next to draw a number and find the gift. It could be on the end of a string which led inside of a covered barrel. Sometimes they would find them hanging in different places all around the room. Dad always has a different twist to everything from the year before. And we passed out candy at different intervals. Afterwards he explained about the gifts not being the same as the year before because of the economy. He tried to explain that in the States some people have even lost their homes because they lacked work. He told them to be sure and pray for them (you in the States) because "that is how you are able to eat, attend school, etc."

The world is changing. Last week we were laughed at because of saying we had the Holy Spirit inside of us. Another time, we were laughed at when I said we needed a miracle. I was aghast, coming from supposedly Christian people! But the way the world is today, it really pays for us to be vigilant. 1 Peter 5:8.
“BUT IN JESUS DO WE LIVE AND HAVE OUR BEING.”

May God Bless you in every way in 2012. May JESUS be always standing by your side, as He is with us.

Please remember to pray for E.G.O. as we continue to pray for you.
We covet your prayers.
Still standing in the Gap.

The team that visited us recently brought 12 duffle bags full of very usable clothing and different items. We want to send our thanks to everyone involved for these wonderful gifts.
May our Great God so wonderfully Bless you.

The 2011/2012 school year has begun! Wonderful teachers have been hired and more than 100 students have registered from town, as well as the EGO children.

Everyone gathers around the flag pole for the National anthem and flag raising, then walks over to the Tabernacle for the opening ceremony.

New desks, chairs and rooms with happy children! Rachelle made sure the rooms had supplies.

Finishing the restroom (below) and getting security in place to start the school year off well.

October 2011 Newsletter
How blessed we are of the Lord to have had such wonderful faithful friends all these years supporting EGO with their prayers and finances. Thank you for being so kind and faithful.

To say the least, since our return in August, this place has been like a bee-hive.
Want to thank Chris & Beth Cooley’s team for all the much needed and appreciated help they gave EGO. Their Pastor, wife and son, in so many different ways, brought the word of God to our youth. Such enriching programs to suit our kids up with the armor of God to help them withstand the fiery attacks of the forces of wickedness. The construction crew helped Dad pour the foundations and start the temporary steps to the second floor of the school. Thanks everyone, you helped to make our load so much lighter!

Dad, with the help of the fellows here, finished the steps, put the doors and windows in along with the glass louvers. They cleaned up the yard and now are working on finishing the toilet. Dad is trying so hard to finish before the 10th of October which is when school begins here.

Then there is Rachelle. She has quite a challenging position at the school! This year she has an assistant helping with the enrollment, and measuring the amount of material for the new uniforms-- powder blue with checked blue and white tops for this year. She is responsible for collecting and depositing all the fees. She has ordered all of the books for the students, and one truck load has already arrived but they will not give the rest until she pays for all of them. May I put a prayer request in here? We have many Dessalines families who cannot pay tuition, if anyone can help by sponsorship!

Rachelle is also in charge of having the broken desks from last year repaired and put in the right rooms. Rosena has measured, cut out and sewn approx. 200 uniforms, sometimes working through the night.

Jacquelin, with some help, built tables with benches attached like picnic tables, all from scratch. They are now being painted. The little school by the Tabernacle wall had a new face lift and is near completion.

Then there is Pastor Steve, the Educator, who has ways of getting things done…and does not like to take "no" for an answer...as is what happened when he wanted to rename the school….we didn’t want to spoil it by using our name. Today, however, the school is now named, INSTITUTION MIXE PEAVEY (in English, The Peavey Institution). We are so happy that he is here at this time though. You all know Pastor Steve and his wife, Esther, are a Godsend. She is so very much involved in the school and also a wonderful help for Rachelle. Pastor Steve’s standards are very high, which we do so appreciate. He has spent much time searching for qualified teachers. He interviewed them several times before hiring them. He and Esther have done a marvelous job preparing everyone for the opening of the 2011 school year. Thank you! We pray God’s blessings on this new school.

Thinking this would be good time to also give honor to my husband, Donald Peavey, who has stayed with this project since the beginning. Sketching out all the plans and making the foundations more that adequate, adding extra strength with better mixture of cement ration and additional steel support. Once he thought of building three stories high but believed it should only be two for the sake of safety, in light of the recent earthquake in Haiti. I must say he has always gone beyond what has been expected and made everything additionally secure. Thank you honey, I love you and want the world to know I am very proud of you!
